WHAT: 2014 hookgrip Classic
WHERE: Liberty Barbell Club, 1229 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia PA 19107
WHEN: October 4th (Open) and 5th (Novice), 2014
COST: $60 for athletes, $5 for spectators
Liberty Barbell Club is excited to host the 2014 hookgrip Classic!
Novice men and women will lift on Sunday, October 5th. Open competitors will lift Saturday, October 4th. We will post specific details about session times as registration proceeds and we can gauge response, and we’ll send a confirmation of times to all lifters before the competition.
A valid USA Weightlifting membership is required to register for and compete in this meet regardless of whether you’re competing in the Novice or Open category. A USAW membership can be obtained here: https://www.usaw.hangastar.com/Login.aspx
PLEASE PROVIDE A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS THAT YOU CHECK REGULARLY, WE WILL BE EMAILING LOTS OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION AS WE GET CLOSER TO OUR EVENT DATE.
We especially encourage new lifters and first time competitors to come out for our Novice sessions on SUNDAY. We always get an enthusiastic, encouraging crowd, and it’s a great opportunity to get some experience on the platform. (To be eligible to compete in the Novice session, you may have lifted at three or fewer prior sanctioned meets.)
FOR NOVICE LIFTERS ONLY: Singlets and oly shoes are NOT required for novice lifters – but clothing must be fitted to allow judges to gauge full lockout at elbows and knees (that is, leggings are permitted but baggy sweatpants are not) Coaches, please encourage your new lifters to join us!
SINGLETS AND OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING SHOES ARE REQUIRED FOR OPEN SESSION COMPETITORS.
Confirmation of weigh-in and lifting times will be emailed to all competitors once registration closes on Monday, 9/29/14. This email will also include useful day-of information (parking, food, etc).
We’ll be recognizing the top 3 lifters in each category: Open Men, Open Women, Novice Men and Novice Women (to be eligible to compete in the Novice session, you may have lifted at three or fewer prior sanctioned meets).
