A Shameless Plug
As part of running the Philadelphia Marathon, I’m also fundraising (fundracing, ha!) for Back on My Feet. From the horse’s mouth:
“Established in July 2007, Back on My Feet is a four- to six-month program that uses running as a vehicle to teach critical work and life skills, including discipline, respect, leadership, team work and goal-setting, to individuals living in homeless and transitional facilities. Through dedication, attitude, and commitment, our members progress to advanced stages in our program that offer connections to job training, educational scholarships, and housing assistance.”
As runners and CrossFitters, I think that we can all understand the sense of self worth that we get from completing a physical task or setting a new PR or even just feeling physically better on a daily basis. If you’d like to help support Back on My Feet, please consider donating at my fundraising page – any amount is greatly appreciated!
If you’d like to help out in a non-monetary way, you can also join Back on My Feet as a non-residential member! There are several teams throughout the city that welcome non-residential members to their morning workouts. Check out their website to get started as a volunteer.
