August’s Member of the Month

Once a month, our community votes to recognize a single member who embodies the spirit of CrossFit Center City. He/she is someone who has a good attitude, even on the toughest days, is always there to lend support to fellow athletes, and generally goes the extra mile to help build our community to become even more awesome. When it’s time to vote, we send a reminder email out to the entire crew, but if you ever see another member do something really cool for you or the gym in general, feel free to shoot us an email at to tell us what happened! 

Our Member of the Month is always awarded a FREE month of membership to CFCC.

August’s Member of the Month has been with us for the long haul. As a long-time member of CFCC, she is the living image of dedication, consistency, and commitment. She is embarking upon a new personal adventure now and we wish her the same amount of courage and excitement that she has consistently brought to her CrossFit career. I remember very well the first time Kate walk into the doors of CFCC. She was in awe of what our experienced members were capable of in their strength and conditioning training. I remember when Kate first started at CFCC! She was new to the barbell, new to gymnastics, new to training, and EVERYTHING that CrossFit was about. She was entirely new to the idea of eating in a different way, living in a different city, and training for strength. It is hard to believe that that same woman is now capable of pull-ups in metcons, handstanding, cleaning, snatching, squatting huge loads (as long as Rach is there to put the plates on the bar), and deadlifting as Elmo. Really though, Kate is a constant source of encouragement for me as a Coach. She has grown so much as an athlete and has never hesitated to hold her fellow CFCCers to their commitments as well – for all this (and more, I’m sure) she is a perfect choice for Member of the Month! -Erin

Get to know Kate!

1. What do you when you’re not here?
Wife to Corey, traveling to see my family who live in NYC, Cleveland, and Florida, watching Gator football, and spending time with friends.


2. How did you find out about CF?
My husband has a cousin who was doing crossfit and kept telling Corey all about it.  Corey started to do his own research and looked up where the closest affiliate in Center City was which was CFCC.  He went over to meet Erin one day and they chatted and then he brought me in to meet Erin and it was love at first sight!  I do not even think there was On Ramp yet.  I was terrified to front squat because I thought the bar was going to choke me! Times have changed!


3. What makes you come in and train on days when you don’t want to?
The people! I am a constant 6amer and I can always count on my friends to be there and I feel like I miss out when I am not there every morning!

4. What’s your favorite movement and/or metcon?
I think my favorite movement is the clean. My favorite metcon is FRAN bc I have grown so much over the past 2 years.  I went from using a band and maybe cleaning 35lbs to doing the entire workout RXd.  I think the best accomplishment of my crossfit carrier is when I did FRAN RXd.  It may have taken me 15min but it was worth it in the end!


5. What’s one thing you would like to accomplish within CF in the next year?
I would like to get a muscle up one day!


6. Name something about yourself that’s a little known fact.
I am pregnant with my first child! I am due in March!
