June’s Member of the Month!!
Once a month, our community votes to recognize a single member who embodies the spirit of CrossFit Center City. He/she is someone who has a good attitude, even on the toughest days, is always there to lend support to fellow athletes, and generally goes the extra mile to help build our community to become even more awesome. When it’s time to vote, we send a reminder email out to the entire crew, but if you ever see another member do something really cool for you or the gym in general, feel free to shoot us an email at email@example.com or leave a note in the box to tell us what happened!
Our Member of the Month is always awarded a FREE month of membership to CFCC. Check out all of our past Members of the month here!
Our Member of the Month for June has been wracking up the votes for quite some time, and we’re so excited to honor her this month. An incredibly consistent and dedicated athlete, she is a mainstay in both the 7am crew and the general CFCC world. The coaches have a deep appreciation for her professional commitment to fitness and movement, and how that transfers to CFCC; and members repeatedly cite her positive and supportive energy as an inspiration to help them put in their best every day. We are so happy to announce JUNE’S MEMBER OF THE MONTH:
FROM THE COACHES:
Duda is an awesome athlete!! She’s always ready to be coached and always has a great attitude! She is also always willing to answer any physical therapy related questions I but her about. She also hooked us up with those PT bands. It’s about time she got MOTM!! – Basa
Diana Duda is a rockstar. I had the pleasure of coaching Diana on an exclusive level in my first cycle of Accelerate at the beginning of the year when I was still transitioning to CFCC. Not only was it evident Diana had a great work ethic, but her ability to accept challenges and practice patience made her a pleasure to work with. It has been awesome to watch Diana crush so many PR’s in both strength numbers and skills over the past few months. I believe much of Diana’s success in the gym can be attributed to her positive attitude and consistency. Jordan can attest that my vote for Member of the Month has gone to Diana multiple times since I came to CFCC and I am excited to see her acknowledged for her achievements. Her dedication to the community does not go unnoticed and it certainly wouldn’t be the same without her. Congrats Diana! – Perrin (DIANA DUDA SUPERFAN)
Yay Duda! Duda has been a consistent member of the 7am for a long time now, and at times can be found coming in early to work on her body weight movements in the back. It’s been great to see her progress, and she is always so supportive and welcoming to new members, making them feel welcome from day one. Keep it up Duda! –Record
Duda is a force to reckon. She is in every morning doing work, and it’s fantastic that she is being recognized with the win. –Tim
I love Diana’s refreshing attitude. She’s always willing to put in the work and never looks for shortcuts. I think she truly understands that the best part of being fit is the journey along the way, and I’m thankful that our newer members have an athlete like her to look up to. –Morgan
Here are my top 3 favorite things about Diana that have nothing to do with Member of the Month really: 1) she has the most beautiful smile and wins the award for one of the members that I think styles our CFCC apparel best 2) she is incredibly good at going from sweaty Amazon to gorgeous business-ready woman and 3) since she’s started at CFCC she’s always struck me as someone with a very open spirit – she’s friendly to everyone, perpetually looking to learn and expand her mind, and very easy to talk to! On a more related note: all of those qualities do go hand-in-hand with her being the perfect pick for a MOTM. On top of all that though I’d add that Diana is one of our most consistent members, and although she is a very qualified Physical Therapist also one of our most open-minded athletes. Diana is a friend to anyone around her, always willing to lend a helpful opinion to our Coaches when they are struggling to understand a movement-related issue, and a stellar athlete who is consistently on the hunt to better herself. I consider it a great privilege to have her in our midst and am so happy to hear that she’s finally won MOTM! She absolutely deserves it! –Erin
FROM THE MEMBERS:
Diana contributes a ton to her fellow CFCC-ers (primarily, the 7 a.m. crew because we are truly awesome). Diana has a ton of knowledge about the body from being a PT that she is always willing to share with others and I know many people have benefited from her knowledge in that respect. However, the main reason I voted for Diana to be member of the month is that she is “consistently consistent”- I have watched her for months now (that sounds creepy), and she: 1) always shows up (daily) and gets it done; 2) is always positive about what she can do and never gets down on herself about what she can’t yet do or what she is still working to improve on; 3) always stays positive and motivated during workouts, ESPECIALLY and PARTICULARLY during the most challenging and tough workouts (like today’s WOD, for example). No matter what, Diana just keeps working and makes it happen (and she is getting faster and better all the time.) As a side note, her cardiovascular skills are ridiculous and I can always count on Diana to run and row circles around me! She is that person I always look to, especially during a running WOD, to try to keep pace with. That’s why I voted for Diana as member of the month!
YAY DUDA! Duda always shows up and always puts in the work – I don’t think I’ve ever heard her complain about a workout. I LOVE the 7 am ladies (and the dudes too, but especially the ladies) and Duda gives us a very strong foundation. She can beast all of the workouts, offers really great PT advice, and will always cheer you on. She and I are really great at pacing each other and are often on the same barbell and I honestly believe that some of my best PRs and workouts come when I am working with Duda. She is the best and most certainly deserves the honor of Member of the Month!
If CFCC is looking for a member of the month who consistently works hard Monday through Friday — always pushing herself to be better, faster, and stronger; someone who inspires the athletes around her to never stop striving and do whatever it takes to reach their goals; someone who is generous with her encouragement and PT expertise; and someone who is kind and genuinely caring to every member of the gym, Diana is the perfect choice. I can’t imagine the 7am family without her and am so grateful I get to start my days working out with her — without a doubt, I’m a better person and athlete because of it.
Hey I just wanted to nominate Diana DUDA for member of the month! Not only has she shared so much nutritional knowledge with me that has substantially change my habits but she is superiorly knowledgeable about body mechanics. (This makes sense because she is a PT) but what’s more is that her eager friendliness and helpful advice is readily accessible to anyone friendly enough to easily make her acquaintance. I know that she has been a PR monster these last couple cycles and her strength and dedication is contagious. In class she is a great motivator and leads by example. She is awesome, therefor I cast my vote, with what ever weight it may bear (Crossfit joke), to nominate Diana for member of the month!
AND NOW A MESSAGE FROM THE WOMAN HERSELF:
1. What do you when you’re not here? Your profession?
I am a physical therapist. I can not believe I have been a therapist for 9 years. I work for Good Shepherd Penn Partners/ PennMedicine. I have a bunch of letters behind my name professionally- PT, DPT, ATP, MSCS- which means I have my doctorate, specialize in wheelchairs and an a Multiple Sclerosis specialist. My scope of practice as a PT is very varied because I need a constant challenge. I treat patients with Neurological injuries (MS, Stroke, brain injury…), Vestibular disorders (dizziness), also Orthopedics, and run a wheelchair clinic making recomendations for those who need power and manual wheelchairs. I am also an Adjunct professor at University of the Sciences teaching Orthopedics, and a certified yoga instructor. Fitness and health constantly surround me. I see the value of exercise and nutrition on a daily basis and the impact it has on your body for a lifetime.
2. How did you find out about CF?
My good friend was doing crossfit for years at 215. I was constantly telling her at how people are always getting injured, how its a crazy sport and that much meat will kill you and give you cancer. During these years I was Vegan and practicing Ashtanga yoga. Now reformed from 7 years a vegetarian – eating lots of meat and never feeling better. Over 2 years ago, I had a Rolfer who suggested all my health symptoms were prob related to my diet and suggested Weston A. Price. After lots of reading I figured eating meat was better medicine than the 16 pills I was taking a day. I’m now down to 1 pill daily. This was 1 year BEFORE I started crossfit. I walked through those basement doors 1 year AFTER I started a ” paleo ” diet for an autoimmune condition on a whim deciding those who eat this way also benefit from moving this way. Yoga is still a big part of my life and I hate to admit how right she was about crossfit.
3. What makes you come in and train on days when you don’t want to?
The people @ CFCC !!! My 7am family and moonlighting with the 6amfamily, along with the inspiring coaches. The accountability of having those who will also climb outta bed early before work and push me a little bit harder than I would push myself alone.
4. What’s your favorite movement and/or metcon?
5. What’s one thing you would like to accomplish within CF in the next year?
Can I have 3?! Stronger, faster, better looking ;)
6. Name something about yourself that’s a little known fact.
I’ve torn my ACL twice. The first was in college on an inflatable obstacle course. The second was 10 years later in Costa Rica on the beach when a Red Scarlet Macaw tried to land on my back. Her name was Polly and aparently they are endangered birds. I still have a huge fear of birds!
Thank you so much Diana! For your positive energy, boundless knowledge, and amazing support of all things CFCC!
